Together, our surgical team has amassed nearly\n50 years of collective experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">About the LASIK Procedure<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The surgeons prefer to use a very technologically advanced form of LASIK\ncalled bladeless custom LASIK to correct vision. This is the only LASIK\nprocedure used by the Navy, Air Force and NASA for vision correction.<strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bladeless LASIK is called \u201call-laser\u201d LASIK; it uses\ntwo different lasers for safe, effective vision correction. First, a femtosecond laser creates a flap in the\ncornea. Next, an excimer laser reshapes the cornea to correct refractive error,\nthus improving vision. A cornea is a fingerprint; each one is unique.\nTherefore, our surgeons create a customized corneal map that is unique to every\neye. This map guides the surgeon during the LASIK procedure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our surgeons prefer this method over\nolder LASIK techniques that use metal surgical blades. Bladeless LASIK has less\nrisk because we use a precise laser rather than a surgical blade to create a\nthin corneal flap. This gives the surgeon more ability to stabilize the cornea\nfor reshaping. We prefer bladeless LASIK because we are able to correct higher\nrefractive error with the technique. The procedure is safe, quick and\npain-free, and we can even treat both eyes in the same surgery. The LASIK\nprocedure is also extremely effective; in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC3583408\/\">recent published study<\/a>, clinical\nresults showed tremendous long-term vision stability and safety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The surgery lasts 30 minutes. We first numb the eyes with\nanesthetic drops. Once back at home, rest your eyes for the remainder of that\nday, try to sleep as much as you can. and use the eye drops we send you home\nwith. Some patients experience minor irritation, dry eye, itching or light sensitivity shortly after surgery. We will see you back in the\noffice 48 hours later for a follow-up appointment to check your healing\nprogress. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Am I A Candidate for LASIK?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Most patients are good candidates for the LASIK procedure.
